Opéra Magazine's April 2022 'pick of the month' - Asmik Grigorian in Rachmaninov songs: 'Dissonance'

The 'coup de coeur' selection in the April issue of France's Opéra Magazine, with a 'Diamant', their highest accolade, is Asmik Grigorian's Dissonance, a CD of Rachmaninov songs with Lukas Geniusas at the piano, on Alpha Classics.

'Teamed with a pianist of genius, the most formidable singing actress of our time delivers an outstanding song recital,' says the reviewer (in French).

But an opera expert I know said he thought the cast of this Giulio Cesare was 'intriguing' and a friend who's a Händel fan wanted to see it, so along I went with him. I guess what was 'intriguing' about it was the mix of vocal stars with others already  marked out as promising, and Jaroussky conducting a staged opera for the first time from the pit. T
